MACPUARSA AT THE INELEX '98 SHOW
The first edition of the Inelex lift show was held in Izmir in Turkey on 14-17 May. MACPUARSA was present at this event with our new front-line products:
- MICROBASIC + 3VFMAC: Controller
- RESCATAMAC-30: Emergency unit
- REVECO: VVVF automatic car doors

We also exhibited control stations, speed limiting devices and machines for 4-6 persons. All these products were displayed by YENER ASANSOR, who are successfully distributing our equipment in the Turkish market.
SECOND COURSE ON MP ELECTRONIC LIFT COMPONENTS
MACPUARSA HELLAS (Athens, Greece) was the scene of the second course on MP electronic lift components, led by John Damaskos (Technical Manager at Macpuarsa Hellas).

The course was attended by assembly and maintenance technicians from the companies in our Middle East zone. The participants were from Cyprus, Malta, Greece, the Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.

These courses are aimed at:

• Broadening technicians' training and improve their knowledge of our products

• Facilitating communication and the exchange of ideas and experiences among the different countries in the area

• Helping people associated with MACPUARSA to get to know each other

At the end of the course all the participants received a certificate of attendance at this second course.

THE ATHENS UNDERGROUND
The city of Athens is building a metropolitan underground railway as part of its efforts to get ready for the 2004 Olympic Games.
MACPUARSA is supplying the following components for the lifts, which are being installed by Otis:

• car and landing control stations
• voice synthesizers
• electronic gongs

The cars are equipped with full-height stations. The car position is indicated by car-riding lanterns and the buttons are BAB vandalism-resistant with markings embossed and in Braille. The floor information is shown in Greek and English.

Bilingual voice synthesizers (Greek and English) will give the floor numbers, line numbers, direction of travel, etc.

Electronic gongs will indicate the direction of the lift at each floor with one or two sounds.
These products are a means of facilitating the use of this type of transport for handicapped persons and for people who do not understand the Greek language or alphabet.

FROM CHINA

MP entered the Asian market in February 1995. From the very start, we began the task of understanding the market, attracting customers, adapting to regulations, and all the other details to get us ready to open our agency in Beijing, China, in May 1997.

Our decision to set up in China responds to a medium- and long-term strategy based on the present and potential market (China is the world leader in lift installations in new buildings).

Our complete lifts are now in operation in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and China, and we sell components in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Japan.

We opened our Bangkok agency in early September 1998 as a hub for consolidating the Southeast Asian area.

We plan to open an agency in Shanghai at the end of 1998 and another in Guangzhou in mid 1999. In this way we can cover all of China for sales and before&after-sales service, and provide support to nearby areas as well.

One of our main advantages is the constant support we give our customers from the moment an order is received, and the training we provide to help customers become familiar with our products before carrying out the installation on site.

MP was present at the three international lift shows (Beijing '96, Shanghai '97 and Beijing '98), in addition to the Singapore International Show in 1998 and the Guangzhou National Show in 1998.

MP's current aim in Asia is to begin assembling lift components, and to expand our distribution network for complete lifts and components.
