ASIC SLESS: SENSORLESS SOLUTION FOR VECTORIAL CONTROL

MACPUARSA and the School of Industrial Engineers in Seville are currently working on a project whose end result in 1999 will be a new ASIC SLESS chip that will mean a frequency changer with indirect vectorial control without the need to install any kind of encoder in the lift machinery. It will cut out the costs associated with an encoder (material and installation) without compromising the system's performance.
At the same time,
MACPUARSA is currently studying the possibility of a major project to address all the technical-control aspects of lift motors, which will involve the use of the latest technology and scientific advances in motor control and regulation: indirect vectorial control for synchronous and asynchronous motors, eliminating sensors, regenerative braking, space vector applied to PWM, control of harmonics and power factor 1, etc. The project will last for three years, although new developments resulting from it will be brought on line while it is going on.

A NEW WELDING ROBOT

Awelding robot has been in operation at our Seville plant since July–the first of its kind in our group. It is a Kawasaki JS-06 robot with 6 degrees of freedom–3 in the arm and 3 in the wrist–fitted to a Panasonic PANA STAR RF-350 welding unit. It has a rigid framework consisting of a supporting base for the robot and two workbenches where the welding and loading/unloading are done. The positioning tools for the different parts are placed on the workbenches. The robot is located inside an enclosed area that also contains the electrical installation, compressed-air equipment and exhaust system required for compliance with health and safety regulations.
The robot will be used mainly for rope sockets. Its functional capacity under current conditions is 250,000 sockets per year on an 8-hour shift (somewhat more than two units per minute).
The arrival of this new automated welding system will mean a substantial improvement in the quality of our parts.

GREECE BEFORE MP

Five years ago our Chairman and Commercial Manager travelled together to Greece on a prospecting visit and, after taking a look at the vertical transport systems in use there, decided to open a subsidiary: Mac Hellas.

Today, five years later, 5000 lifts are installed in Greece every year–70% hydraulic, 600-kg capacity, 4-5 floors. Of these, 1000 are fitted with Microbasic and Microkapa controllers and Compac control stations.
