The TRACEL Project in Spain

On 30 April 2002 MP, together with Egmasa, created the company TRATAMIENTO Y CONCENTRACIÓN DE LÍQUIDOS S.L. (TRACEL). The company's purpose is to provide comprehensive waste management services for industrial plants in Andalusia, treating liquid wastes generated by their production processes.

The construction work was completed and the plant commissioned in late 2002. Since then TRACEL has treated a total of 7000 metric tonnes with fully satisfactory results, and the demand for its services has grown throughout the country.

In view of the favourable results and the versatility of its facilities, TRACEL is considering the possibility of setting up similar plants around the country in areas where there are few such plants or none at all.

There are currently several projects at various stages. In Galicia the process of environmental approval for building a treatment plant has begun. Talks with the pertinent agencies to set up plants in the centre of the country, in Catalonia and farther south in the Levante region are well underway.

These plants will provide full waste management services throughout the entire country to meet the growing need for industrial waste management facilities.
