INAUGURATION OF THE VALENTIN DE MADRIAGA MP FOUNDATION´s NEW HEADQUARTERS AND THE MP CORPORATION¨S CONTEMPORARY ART COLLECTION

Last 18th October, the Valentín de Madriaga-MP Foundation´s new headquarters was inaugurated in the US Pavillon of the Ibero-American Exposition in 1929. The building was transferred by the Seville County Council.

The mayor of Seville, Mr Alfredo Sanchez Monteseirín inaugurated and visited the MP Corporation’s Contemporary Art Collection and the first phase of the building’s restoration project to convert it into the Foundation’s headquarters. The building is also to house works of the MP´s collection featuring nature and the environment. The mayor was accompanied by Mr Gonzalo and Mr Valentín de Madariaga as well as the gallery director, Pepe Cobo.

The event, at which members of the Foundation’s Council were present, was also attended by figures from Seville´s business and cultural

worlds, as well as managers from different MP Corporation departments.

The Pavillon is in an ideal location within Seville, in an emblematic area. It is positioned at a crossroads between three main roads: Maria Luisa avenue, La Palmera avenue and Paseo de las Delicias and lies within the triangle formed by San Telmo Palace (headquarters for the President of the Governnent of Andalusia), the Maria Luisa Park and the University of Seville. Such a special location would appear to require that the building acts as more than a mere site for an Institution and Art Collection, despite the uniqueness and admirable purpose of this.
