The remodelled Wastewater Treatment Plant in Aledo (Murcia) was opened on 24 January. The Councillor for Agriculture and Water, Mr Antonio Cerdá, the town’s Mayor, Mr Simón Acaraz, the Director-General of Water, Mr Miguel Ángel Ródenas and Esamur Manager, Mr Manuel Albacete all attended the opening event.
The Environment Area of MP Group’s Engineering, Services and the Environment Division was responsible for remodelling the plant. These works involved completely remodelling the previous installation so that it is equipped with the latest technology in wastewater treatment by total biological oxidation with an ultrafiltration membrane system (MBR). The remodelling works were financed by ESAMUR (Wastewater Treatment Organisation of Murcia) costing a total of € 800,000. Ángel Santoyo Sánchez was the works manager throughout this project.
This technology will enable over 100,000 m3 of water to be reused annually and more than meets the requirements of European Directive 91/271/EEC of 21 May 1991 on urban wastewater treatment and for the town itself in terms of overall growth.
