On 14 December, MP’s Environment Area took part in the Technical Seminar on Environmental Management for the Agri-Food Industry. This event was organised by CITAGRO (Centre of Innovation and Agri-Food Technology) in collaboration with IAT (Andalusian Technology Institute) and Azti Tecnalia.

This workshop was aimed at companies from the agri-food industry. Its objective was to promote the use of the best available techniques (BAT) as well as the correct environmental management of production processes. Therefore, the seminar’s agenda was divided into three areas:

• Area one: led by speakers from Egmasa and AENOR, focussing on environmental standards and the implementation of UNE EN ISO 14001:2004, respectively.
  
• Area two: led by AINIA, focussing on promoting and distributing guidelines for the technical improvement. This area included a specific case study of the wastewater treatment in the agri-food sector and the most effective technologies used (MP).

Approximately fifty professionals that work in or closely with the agro-food industry attended the seminar which reflects the sector’s level of concern and interest in this issue. MP is well aware of the problems facing this sector and has extensive experience in developing environmental solutions specific to the needs of the industries of this nature.
