MP to build new Eroski shopping centre in Lepe

Last June, the Construction Area of MP Group’s Engineering, Services and the Environment Division and EROSKI, through their Andalusian Expansion Department (UDAMA), signed the agreement for MP to construct a shopping centre, supermarket and indoor car park: the new EROSKI in Lepe.

The project, drafted by a Seville-based firm specialising in engineering and projects, Ingeniería y Gestión, in total will cost € 1,710,544.95. The shopping centre will occupy an area of approximately 4,133 m2 and will be built on Avenida de la Constitución in Lepe, Huelva.

The car park will be located on the roof to optimize the space and to increase the number of available parking spaces

The entrance to the building will be located on the ground floor where there will be a large area for the shop floor and a number of small premises mainly to be used as storage areas, offices, cameras and operating areas. The first floor is the shopping centre’s roof and is where the car park will be located. There will be a drive-up ramp for vehicles to enter the car park and a staircase will provide direct access for pedestrians to the ground floor of the shopping centre. The machinery room and the meeting room will be on the first floor. The specific structural design of the building means that the car park can be on the roof, optimising the use of space and increasing the number of available parking spaces in the area.

Work is currently being carried out on the inside of the building which will soon be opening its doors to the public. The construction of the EROSKI Shopping Centre meets therefore the developer’s objectives: to be functioning by the spring of 2007 and provide the town of Lepe (Huelva) with a greater selection of shops.

This project is another example of the Construction Area’s experience in constructing original buildings for commercial use. The Sotogrande Shopping Centre in Cadiz which also has a supermarket, is currently in its final phase. A further point of reference in this sector is the works carried out for the Plaza Mayor Shopping Centre in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cadiz).

The Construction Area greatly values the confidence EROSKI has placed in MP to carry out the construction works for this project and hopefully this project will lead to further construction projects of a similar nature.
