On 10 July, the Environment Area held a workshop on Wastewater Reclamation in Residential Complexes and Tourist and Hotel Resorts, which took place in the Hotel Barceló Ciudad Jardín in Aranjuez. The hotel is part of a complex developed by the FADESA development company in Madrid. It includes more than 2,950 dwellings and plots of different typologies, a casino and an 18-hole golf course, as well as modern sports facilities and large green areas, which are distributed throughout the compound.
Los asistentes visitaron el sistema de membranas y comprobaron la calidad del agua obtenida además de la minimización de impactos que permite esta tecnología.
The workshop included an initial theoretical section in which Francisco Balsera Cubero, the Commercial Manager for this area, gave a presentation on the activities of the company and the MP Corporation. Furthermore, Ms Rosalía Jiménez Pérez, MP Head of Supply Water, provided technical information on MBR systems and a speech on Tertiary Treatments. MP collaborator, Mr José Martos, participated in the event by giving a presentation on Reverse Osmosis Technology. Following the theoretical section, the attendees moved to the hotel surroundings where they visited the wastewater treatment plant. Attendees were able to see a membrane system in full operation and check the quality of the water obtained, as well as the minimised impacts that this technology allows.

As part of this project, MP has developed a WWTP for the entire complex. As a result of filtration using MBR membranes and the limited space required by the installation, the plant has been fully integrated into its surroundings within the estate. This was one of the main requirements for the project, without which it would not have gone ahead. The WWTP has been located in an enclosed space, thus reducing its visual impact, as well as noise and odours, which are normally produced by such installations.

The workshop was mainly attended by representatives of engineering and architectural studies on residential and hotel projects, which aim to solve problems regarding the demand for and the quality of water obtained from urban water. It was also attended by representatives of the administration, who were interested in case study of urban water reclamation such as that developed by MP in this complex in Aranjuez.
