Ambilital, new biodestil project in Portugal.

Investimentos Ambientais no Alentejo, EIM, is involved in activities related to the management of an integrated collection, treatment and recovery system for solid urban waste in the municipalities associated to Amagra, with its headquarters in Monte Novo Dos Modernos. The aforementioned company awarded the project for the treatment of leachate waste from the Amagra landfill to the consortium formed by the Ecoambiente and MP companies, in a tender in which foreign companies also participated.

The work involved in the present contract includes the extension of the leachate collection tank to a capacity of 2,000 m3 and a treatment plant based on the Biodestil process, as well as the necessary electrical connections, accesses and changes to the landscape.

This is the second project for landfill leachates treatment undertaken by MP in Portugal. In comparison with the plant installed in Mirandela at the end of 2005, this one incorporates a new thermal section, which is more efficient, durable and flexible, as a result of combustion with secondary air and a combustion chamber that has been recovered with fire brick. The plant also includes a burner to recover biogas energy generated in the landfill itself and reduces exploitation costs.
