Our Corporation, which is experiencing a period of growth within the rail sector, has continued to reach significant milestones in recent months.

The first Spanish rail exhibition took place in Barcelona between 2 and 5 October under the name of BCNRAIL. The event was organised by Fira de Barcelona and Railgrup, who hope to hold the event every other year. MP had already decided to participate in the project last year, when the idea was presented, so that they could demonstrate the activities in which the Industrial Corporation could have an active and significant presence.

This first event was attended by all the large rail companies operating in Spain, both public companies and operators such as RENFE, ADIF, Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Cataluña, Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat Valenciana and FEVE, as well as rail components manufacturers, such as CAF, Siemens, Alstom, TALGO, Vossloh, and Bombardier, among others. The MP Industrial Corporation also attended alongside these companies as an exhibitor, as a sign of its support for this sector.

Our stand was visited by all of our clients within this sector, as well as those with whom we have not worked yet, but will hopefully do so soon. There was particular interest in the activities that the Corporation is carrying out in different rail projects:

• In terms of mobility, we continue to develop our engineering activity, with growing confidence on the part of our clients. However, our most innovative project is related to the two product lines that we have already started manufacturing. On the one hand, transfer cases for trams and light undergrounds and on the other, electric cabinets for carriages and driving desks. In both cases, and as recognised by important actors within the sector, MP has been able to unite the experience that its new employees have in the rail sector, with the “know-how” the company has accumulated from its 20 years working in mechanics and transmissions, as well as electrical and electronic installations.
  
• In terms of infrastructures, the lifts and escalators that are already being installed in line 1 of the Seville underground are to be noted. It seems that these will set the precedence for many others that will be installed in the future.

The second of the previously mentioned milestones was reached just a few days before the start of BCNRail, when another project of product supply was given the go-ahead. This involves driving desks for railcars aimed at the suburban carriage of passengers. In order to develop the project, the clients send us the streamline data specifying the location of the desk, its functionality, a list of switches and the connection diagram. We then use this information to study the ergonomics, distribution of command and control elements, the industrial development, manufacture and testing, thus providing our clients with a piece of equipment that may be installed in the cabin and connected to the other train systems.

Our engineering department is currently working on the detail design, so that the product may then be manufactured and tested and finally delivered to the client, ready to be installed in the carriages.

With this order, MP is now established as one of the leading suppliers, since it takes on the conceptual design, detail design, supply of components and manufacture.
