The installation of a lift in an
existing building requires that
a study be carried out by a
multidisciplinary team in order to
create the best solution possible. As is the
case with new constructions, the following
agents are involved: the developer, the
design engineer, the construction company
and the lift installation company.
As an installation company, MP offers
each one of these agents a personalised,
bespoke commercial technical service. We
bring to the team the technical experience
and information required to ensure that the
project is carried out correctly and executed
successfully.
THE DEVELOPER
In refurbishments, the developer is the
property owner or the property owners’
association. Unlike new construction
projects, the developer is not a large
company and therefore requires integral
advisory services.
When a proposal for the installation of a
lift in an existing building is requested, our
network of commercial technicians goes
to the property in person and records the
details and measurements required to carry
out an initial analysis of the project.
This preliminary study allows us to determine
whether the installation is technically viable
and to carry out an assessment of the final
project. Using these assumptions we are
able to provide an estimate for the turnkey
installation which includes but is not limited
to the following: legalisation, auxiliary work
and installation of the lift, all of which are
subject to the final refurbishment project.
MP’s relationship with construction
companies is one of maximum
collaboration. The end customer,
the developer, is presented with
one final product: the combination
of the shaft and the lift.
DESIGN ENGINEER
The design engineer is normally an architect
or architectural firm contracted by the
developer to carry out the refurbishment
project. MP offers property owners the
architects who normally work with us.
MP provides the technicians who
will carry out the project with all the
necessary technical documentation. This
documentation is designed specifically
for them, with information on reactions,
power and other data which is essential for
calculating the different elements of the
installation: structure, enclosure, electricity
supply, etc.
We send all this documentation to them in
ACAD to facilitate management of the data
and once it has been received, they can
consult with us as often as is necessary by
telephone, e-mail or in person.

Moreover, we bring our experience and
special solutions to the project, adapting
ourselves to the different types of existing
buildings. From among our solutions we can
highlight the following:
- Smaller shafts: With our hydraulic lifts
we are able to adapt to most existing
shafts, not only in terms of size but also
geometry (circular, oval or triangular
shafts, etc.).
- Smaller pits and headroom: With the
incorporation of the new MP ARES
product, we can install very small pits
and headroom in those cases where for
construction reasons it is not possible to
use normal measurements.
- Self-supporting structures: MP manufactures
and installs structures which are
specially designed for lift loads and are
partially independent from the structure
of the building. These structures are
manufactured in units which are easy
to assemble with bolts and which have
different metallic or glass finishes. With
this type of shaft we have eliminated the
need for welding, and to a large extent for
any building work, which ensures greater
safety, speed and cleanliness.
CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
The companies which carry out the auxiliary
work for the installation of the lift, such
as construction, enclosures and electricity
work.
MP’s relationship with construction
companies is one of maximum collaboration.
The end customer, the developer, is presented
with one final product: the combination of
the shaft and the lift. Coordination between
the different agents involved in the project
is vital to ensuring that the end result and
deadlines are as anticipated.
The MP supervisor provides the construction
company with and personally advises it on
the construction requirements necessary
for the successful execution of the tasks
involved. The supervisor, together with the
project manager, coordinates and sets out
the execution planning, and brings together
the different targets for the manufacture,
logistics and installation of the lift.
