For many years, many Andalusian
families have had to put up
with the inconvenience of not
having lifts in the buildings
where they live. In order to tackle
this problem, the regional Ministr y for
Public Works and Transport, through its
Special Refurbishments Office of the
Andalusian Public Enterprise for Land
(EPSA), is carr ying out an ambitious
project supported by large subsidies
and mainly focused on removing
architectural barriers.
This ambitious project came into being
on 9th August 2005 when the order
was signed establishing an action plan
for the refurbishment of residential
buildings. Subsidies were approved for
the installation of 4,500 lifts all over
the region of Andalusia.
On this basis, EPSA created a provincial
register of authorised lift manufacturers
and/or installers in order to make
it easier for the beneficiaries of the
subsidies to contract the services of
these companies. EPSA then agreed in
a first call for bids to install 799 lifts in
the eight provinces of Andalusia.
MP has been awarded contracts for
Cordoba, Granada, Huelva, Malaga
and Seville; in other words, for the
supply and installation of 549 lifts.

Once the announcement was issued and in response to the size and complexity of the project, MP’s Refurbishments Department of fered its ser vices to the Special Refurbishments Of fice, the office in charge of the project. All lifts companies were invited to participate jointly with the Special Refurbishments Of fice in planning and carrying out the project. Many meetings, presentations and visits were held and culminated in the Of fice inviting all the lifts companies to present bids for the contracts.
In the end, MP was awarded the
contracts for Cordoba, Granada, Huelva,
Malaga and Seville; in other words, for
the supply and installation of 549 lifts.
This award not only represents a major
project for MP, but also positions
us as the leading company in the
refurbishments market.
