ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS
MP is currently carrying out electrical
projects which include the study,
engineering and execution phases of the
project. In special buildings, most electrical
installations are classified as being in
“High-Traffic Premises”, in accordance with
Royal Decree 842/2002 REBT (Regulations
for Low Voltage). In accordance with this
decree, these installations must comply
with a series of requirements which render
the execution of the project more complex.
Examples of some of the buildings
developed under the new regulations include
indoor pools, shopping centres, sporting
complexes, civic centres, nursing care
homes, health centres, hotels, serviced
flats, car parks, etc. All of these buildings
have complementary or safety power supply
installations (generator sets or secondary
connections), emergency, safety, evacuation
or replacement lighting, auxiliary lighting in
stairways, cabling with low smoke emission,
reduced opacity and which is fire-resistant
during and after a fire, structured cabling for
IT systems, UPS, ICT Telecommunications,
etc.
One problem which must be resolved in this
type of installation is that, given that the
installed power capacity ranges between
150 KW and 600 KW, it is necessary to
carry out the connection installation at
medium voltage, so that the power supply
to the installations is administered via a
power centre, which is either private (with
a distribution centre made available to
the company), or belongs to the company
(with the entire power centre used by the
company).
At the same time, the tasks involved in
the legalisation of the installation must be
carried out, including writing and obtaining
the certification for low and medium
voltage technical projects, processing of
documentation to be sent to the regional
Ministry for Innovation and to the energy
supply company to define the intersection
point and routes of the supply lines.
FIRE PROTECTION INSTALLATIONS
The fire protection team, which until now
has installed and maintained fire protection
installations independently, has now been
integrated into the Installations Department
of the Construction Area.

|
This team is currently working on
installations for detecting and extinguishing
fires in projects entirely conducted by MP’s
Construction Area, such as the main square
of Chiclana in Cadiz, the new ELIMCO
installations in Seville, MADERAS POLANCO
in Alcalá de Guadaira, Seville, and the
swimming pools in BELLAVISTA and SAN
JERONIMO, Seville.
However, the fire protection team is also
working in projects in which MP is only
involved in the fire protection installations.
These include the fire extinction installations
for the VEGA DEL REY Shopping Centre in
Seville and the fire detection and extinction
facilities in KRUSTAGROUP’s new seafood
processing plant in Palos de la Frontera,
Huelva.
MECHANICAL INSTALLATIONS
The most significant projects in terms of
mechanical installations are for public
swimming pools. The town councils of the
provinces of Huelva, Granada, Almeria and
Seville have entrusted MP with developing
the projects for these installations, including
the engineering, design and legalisation.
The most significant feature of this type
of installation is the work carried out on
the boiler rooms, which require a power
capacity of 395,000 kcal/hr. In addition, the
dehumidifiers demand a working capacity
of between 90kg/hr and 120kg/hr. The
main systems required by these sporting
installations are summarised in the diagram
below.
Among the projects carried out for special
buildings, we would like to highlight the
SHOPPING CENTRE AND PUBLIC CAR PARK
IN CHICLANA DE LA FRONTERA (Cadiz),
where over 3000 m2 of metal sheet was
installed for extracting the exhaust fumes
from the car park, the OUT EDUCATIONAL
CENTRE IN JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA (Cadiz),
where air conditioning facilities are being
installed with a refrigeration capacity of
659,620Kcal/hr and heating capacity of
712,390Kcal/hr.
