The IXth Annual Conference on Controlled Wasteways, which was organised by the “Ategrús” Technical Association for Waste Management and the Environment and coincided with the Municipalia fair in Lerida, on 29th October, included the participation of MP’s Environment Area, which gave a presentation to an audience of over 200 conference attendees, on the Energyefficient Treatment of Leachates in Biogas Plants. MP has been working on per fecting the technology used in this type of plant with systems that recapture residual heat and use it as electricity to operate other systems in the plant, which in turn saves energy. There were a considerable number of technicians and local authority representatives in attendance at the event who are interested in resolving the problems of a sector characterized by the high count of suspended solids in its wastewater.

Also, CITAGRO (Centre for Agri-food Technology and Innovation) held a conference on Environmental Management in the Meat Industry on 10th December in el Viso, Cordoba. MP’s Environment Area was present at the event and gave a presentation on Wastewater Treatment in Abattoirs and the Meat Industry. MP has considerable experience in this sector and has developed solutions which have been adapted to the unique nature of the wastewater from these industries.
