CONSTRUCTION AREA
Project for SK-Aeronautical Composites Plant consolidates MP’s leading position in the construction of aeronautical buildings.

The Construction Area has been awarded the tender to carry out the construction work for the AUTOMATED PLANT FOR AERONAUTICAL COMPOSITES, which SK10 (ALCOR GROUP), plans to develop in el Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz.

The project, which is to cost 5,275,000 is for a building located on a plot of 15,500 m2 in the Bahia de Cadiz industrial estate. The plot is to contain a building of 7,248 constructed metres, which will include two floors of offices, with the possibility of extending it to include a third floor. The construction contract includes the development of the outside area of the plot surrounding the building.

SK consolidates MP’s presence in the industrial and special construction sector in the province of Cadiz where its current portfolio stands at over 24 million euros.

The production activity to be carried out in this building will be the automated manufacture of aeroplane parts using composite materials, mainly carbon fibre. The stages of the manufacturing process shall determine the distribution and facilities to be constructed in the building. In accordance with the construction characteristics of the building, two main areas can be distinguished: the clean area and the industrial area. The clean area is the area where the parts are produced using carbon fibre tape with automated tape laying (ATL) machines. The industrial area includes the areas for curing, finishing the parts, ultrasonic and manual inspection and repair

The signature features of the building are the three 10 and 20 tonne overhead cranes. The biggest crane, which will provide 53 metres of light, is one of the biggest overhead cranes to be installed in Spain. Also worthy of mention are the project’s compressed air, nitrogen, vacuum and electricity installations.

The company, which estimates that this new factory will employ up to 250 people, anticipates that the work will be complete by September 2008.

Following on from the SK10 project in el Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz, and SK3000 AERONÁUTICA in Seville, Sk10 AERONATICAL COMPOSITES is the third project to be carried out by MP for the aeronautical group ALCOR. Another key project is the construction of the ELIMCO Building, another emblematic project developed recently in the aeronautical sector in Andalusia.

Sk Composites is the third work executed for Alcor Group

This new contract strengthens the Construction Area of MP’s position as the leading construction company in the field of aeronautical industrial construction in Andalusia and consolidates its presence in the industrial and special construction sector in the province of Cadiz where, including this contract, its current portfolio stands at over 24 million euros.
