ENGINEERING AREA: AERONAUTIC
Supplier Industry in the Aeronautical Sector.

Following the corporation’s withdrawal in 2007 from its aerostructure assembly activities, MP has identified the following activities for consolidating the company’s presence in the aeronautical sector: comprehensive, integral turnkey solutions in the fields of Engineering and Industrial Services. MP is undertaking these activities through two of its companies: MP Mechanical Components for Engineering and MP Productivity for Services.

ENGINEERING

Within the company’s engineering activity, its aim is to integrate its processes and tools engineering resources in order to take on more ambitious projects, thereby providing an integral solution and boosting the activities which we are specialists in. This approach will make us a ground-breaking company in taking on integral engineering projects within the sector.

The current scope of our engineering work is as follows:

  • Process Engineering:
    • Carrying out FAL assembly processes and structural assemblies.
    • Defining manufacturing structure documentation: ITs, graphs, assembly routes, IVs, tools, normal structures, etc).
    • Defining manufacturing structure (control of configuration).
    • Technical specifications for replacement parts. Assessing assembly times and replacement parts.
    • Development engineering at the client’s premises (concurrent engineering).
    • Technical support for programmes: optimisation of processes and products
  • Engineering of Tools:
    • Design of tools for assembling highly automated aerostructures (platforms).
    • Design of auxiliary assembly tools.
    • Studies of ergonomics in assembly.
    • Calculation of structures of finite elements.
    • Manufacture and assembly of tools with laser-tracker.
    • Design and manufacture of ground support equipment.
    • Design and manufacture of testing benches and functional tests.
We have carried out the work described above in projects relevant to the C295, CN234, A400M and A330 MRTT.

Looking to the future, and with the aim of carrying out Integral Engineering Projects, our objective is to establish working relationships with new clients in the aeronautical sector. This is a feat which we have already achieved with SACESA, with which we have signed new contracts for the design and manufacture of curing tools for the A320, CN235 and B777 programmes; Airbus (Getafe), with which we have signed new contracts for the manufacture and assembly of ground support equipment, and with the after-sales department of EADSCASA. We also aim to increase the number of certifications held by our tools staff for the use of the laser-tracker measuring system for assembly activities and periodic checking of tools.

INDUSTRIAL SERVICES

Our approach and aims in terms of our services activities are the same: the integration of resources with the aim of boosting the activities which provide services separately, in order to offer an Integral Industrial Service. This service will take the shape of one integral solution composed of four lines of action, in which we have extensive and proven experience.

The current scope of our industrial services is as follows:
  • Industrial Maintenance:
    • Corrective and preventive maintenance in auxiliary installations: compressed air, suction equipment, paint booths.
    • Corrective and preventive maintenance of assembly platforms and manual assembly tools.
    • Maintenance management: compilation of documentation, drafting of procedures, studies of replacement parts.
    • Periodic checks of tools using laser tracker. Maintenance of quality documentation, etc.
    • Management of fluids.

  • Implementations:
    • Installation of new production resources: fitting, levelling, start up, etc.
    • Transfer of production resources: disassembly, transfer and installation in new location.
    • General mechanical and electrical assistance.
  • Machine Safety (Royal Decree 1215):
    • Modifications of machinery and installations to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
    • Certification
    • EC labelling in process lines, machines and testing benches.
  • Integration of auxiliary product:
    • Integral service for management of purchase and supply of auxiliary products.
    • Reduction of costs, negotiators, time, deadline, etc.
    • Stock guarantee.
    • Groups of products: fluids, PPEs, industrial hardware, hydraulic and pneumatic materials, electrical and mechanical materials, chemical products and replacement parts.
Within the services described above, we provide the client with DIMM maintenance technology. This is a maintenance system based on continual improvement via the Dif fer entials-Inspection-Maintenance- Improvement cycle. We also provide the SERTEC-AIR service, a technical service for manual tools in the aeronautical sector: riveters, drills, screwdrivers, grinders, sanders, etc.

We are currently providing maintenance services in the installations of EADS-CASA in San Pablo, CBC in Puerto de Santa María, and SK10 Andalucía. Moreover, we have signed a contract with EADS-CASA for the provision, management and repair of consumable and depreciable tools for manufacturing elemental parts. We also provide services for moving machines and platforms, and for the modification of machinery to ensure compliance with safety regulations for machinery. The most recent example of this service was for presses at the EADS-CASA Tablada airport.

To provide comprehensive, integral, turnkey solutions in the field of Engineering and Industrial Services

As has already been said, the idea is to integrate to become more competitive, and within this approach, the objective is to provide an Integral Industrial Service by complementing our main Industrial Maintenance activity with integral services for the purchase and supply of auxiliary products which are adapted to our clients’ needs, Implementation Engineering and the Technical Assistance Service: carrying out implementations, installations and transfers of production resources, electrical, mechanical and automation technical assistance, and lastly modifications to machinery and installations to ensure compliance with safety regulations, certification and EC labelling in process lines, machines, testing benches and all other industrial equipment.

With this approach, in addition to consolidating its growth in the sector, MP aims to reinforce its traditional services by integrating resources to provide them to the companies linked to the corporation, providing a service that is clearly unique: Comprehensive, Integral, Turnkey Solutions in the field of Engineering and Industrial Services.
