Business TIC’08, a B2B conference
organised for and by information
and communication technology
companies with the aim of
stimulating business, cooperation and
transactions, was held in Seville on 6th and
7th February.
The event was organised around five work
areas: Business round, Outsourcing Market,
ICT Cluster, R&D&i funding and Partners
Meeting Point.
MP presented its “Sustainable Construction
and ICTs” project at the event. The
presentation focused on the global
problem of SUSTAINABILITY, which plays
an important role in CONSTRUCTION. The
Integral Building Solution is the competitive
implementation mechanism for sustainability
in construction, and requires the sharing of
multiple technologies which, operating in
coordination with each other, optimise end
solutions which can be generally applied to
buildings. ICTs act as a fundamental tool
for defining these solutions in two different
ways: by providing functions that are valuable
in themselves (internal networks, home
and building automation, IT systems), and
by acting as an agent for the INTEGRATION
AND OPTMISATION of other subsystems in
the building. MP is proposing a model for
bringing together technologies and partial
solutions, which if integrated properly,
address the significant challenge of the
“INTELLIGENT” SUSTAINABLE BUILDING, not
as a one-off solution, but rather a standard,
generally-applied solution.
Within Partners Meeting Point, MP SYSTEMS
gave a presentation on its ERP MIC 2000
which is aimed at attracting distribution
channels and partners in the integration of
specific solutions for vertical markets.
The presentation proposed a management
software approach for companies split
into types: standard ERP software and
personalised management software, which
traditionally has not covered all the areas
required or has suffered from the problem
of significant technological differences
between some applications and others;
issues which have changed substantially
in recent times. Today, the concept of ERP
is based on: ERPs for (large, medium and
small) companies, verticalized solutions for
specific sectors, and ERPs based on free
software or “owner” software.

For one day and a half, the event
brought together over 200 companies
and university research groups from the
national ICT sector.
Business TIC 08 has successfully combined
informative sessions and business and
networking opportunities, theory and
practice, and concepts which had not been
expressed thus far in such a structured
and natural manner in other business
conferences. Attendees were able to enjoy
presentations from high-level and prominent
businesspeople, such as the Vice-President
of EMEA of INTEL CO., from national experts
such as the Deputy Director General of IT
Companies of the Ministry of Industry,
Tourism and Commerce, Víctor Izquierdo,
Jesús Banqueri, Director of Innovation and
Technology of the agency IDEA, and Ramón
Tamames, economist and professor of the
EU Jean Monnet Programme.
