XBRL as a standard for the exchange of financial information in the public sector.

Under the auspices of the cooperation agreement signed between them, the Andalusia Public Accounts Audit Office (the Cámara de Cuentas) and the Valentín de Madariaga-MP Foundation organised a training seminar in Seville on the 17th of April, in order to promote knowledge of the advantages of using XBRL as the standard language for exchanging financial information and with the aim of increasing the transparency of public information. The seminar was directed at Directors, Managers, and politicians working in public and private bodies.

These seminars are just one example of the activities taking place within the framework of the cooperation agreement that was signed by the Foundation and the Audit Office this February.

With this initiative, these two bodies hope to contribute to the trend towards greater transparency in public accounts. The Audit Office, for its part, is extending its field of activity by not only auditing the accounts of public organisms but also ensuring that these accounts are drawn up correctly, with respect to both content and format, thus increasing the availability and accessibility of the public accounts. The Foundation is promoting transparency in all accounting, which is a key aspect of the Social Responsibility of Enterprise. More than eighty people attended the Seminar.
