Training for employment: FORMAN 2007-2008.
On 29th October, the start of the new 2007–2008 academic year was formally announced by the provincial Councillor for Employment and Chairman of the FORMAN Consortium, Mr. Juan Carlos Lomeña. In the last term, 14 training actions were launched in the Training Consortium for Communications and Information Technology, FORMAN, in a Joint Venture with the Valentín de Madariaga - MP Foundation

total of 212 pupils began their training in those months and will finish in Februar y, March or April, by carr ying out work placements in companies.

OPEN DOORS EVENT

From 12th to 30th November, an Open Doors event was held in FORMAN as par t of the activities to be developed during this academic year. Around 300 students from dif ferent secondar y schools of the province of Malaga visited the centre and learnt about the training possibilities it of fers. Par ticularly wor thy of mention within the event, which was aimed at secondar y school careers advisors, was the discussion group on “Training and Needs in the New Technologies Sector”, which included the par ticipation of Ms. Isabel Almendro, Head of Training Ser vices for Employment, Mr. Luís Mar tín, Head of INDRA Malaga, and Ms. Raquel Caba, Training Coordinator for the HR consultants ARELANCE.

THIRD SERIES OF “INFORMANDO” TECHNOLOGICAL WORKSHOPS

Within the series of inFORMANdo technological workshops for professionals, the two sessions of the first term of the 2007/2008 academic year were held on 12th and 13th December. The first session was on “Free Software” and the second examined “The Future of Java Development”. The two sessions included speeches by distinguished professionals from both sectors and were attended by approximately 20 people.
  TWO FORMAN STUDENTS WIN PTA PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST.

On 5th Februar y in Malaga, Guadalupe Sánchez and Inés Tomé, students of the FORMAN course “Exper t in Multimedia Design and Technology”, were awarded first and second prize in the “PTA Photography Marathon”, organised by the PTA (Andalusian Technological Park). FORMAN, the Training Consor tium for Communications and Information Technology of the regional Ministr y for Employment, informed their students of this contest, and around 15 students took par t. This is the second time that a FORMAN student has won a prize in this contest, as last year a prize was awarded to Rubén Campaña, who was studying on the same course.

The FORMAN students, Guadalupe Sánchez and Inés Tomé, shall receive awards of 300 and 200 euros, respectively, in photography material and their photos shall be displayed in the PTA headquar ters together with some of the finalists’ photos.
