Our colleague, Javier Colado Castro, who works in the Elevation Division in the Navisa factory, manufacturing and checking electronic boards, took part in a meeting in the Alps, organised by the Spanish High Altitude Mountaineering Group (GAME). The participants were high performance alpinists from several autonomous regions, and two of the federation’s trainers.
The purpose of the meeting was to find good sportsmen for the Spanish national teams, specifically the B team. It was also used to train and improve attendees’ knowledge.
During the 5-day stay in the Albert I mountain refuge, Javier reached one peak, the “Needle” of the TOUR DE FRANCE which has an altitude of approximately 3800m. Although this peak is not very high, it is considered quite difficult both technically and physically.

Once more, MP raises its sights, this time to conquer the challenge of reaching the highest peak in Europe, Mount Elbrus (5,642 m) in Russia, very close to the frontier with Georgia.

Manuel Barranco, R+D and Engineering Director of MP, with two others from Andalusia and four German climbers, went on a climbing expedition to the Caucasus during the second half of July. For four days they carried out the acclimatisation climbs required by this type of ascent, reaching several peaks of over 4,000 m.
The day that they climbed the Elbrus started at 1:30 in the morning, as it would take eight hours to climb the very demanding 2,000 m - in altitude - to the peak from their Gara-Bashi camp at 3,700 m. This considerable climb, combined with the problems usually found at high altitude - breathing difficulties, the cold, high levels of sunlight, etc – made the ascent, even in summer, a great challenge,...
... like the challenges that MP proposes and meets on a daily basis.
