In the Paraguaná Duty-Free Zone, the ATS Group is setting up with great forward-looking vision, assembling doors, control panels, cars and other components for lifts. The first 8 containers from MP in Spain are being received and a team of Venezuelan operators are undergoing training in order to start the assembly operations.
The whole of the first two years’ production is expected to go to the Venezuelan market, since the volume of sales of ATS+MP at a national level doubled in 2008, to the figure that was expected for 2010. The ATS Group’s intention in the medium term is to extend the plant in order to expand into the Caribbean and possibly the Mercosur free trade area.

According to José Blanco, the Managing Director of ATS, there is such a high level of demand for both material goods and labour that, just as operations are being started, in less than a week, and even before the plant has been opened, several contracts have already been signed in the town of Punto Fijo.
The plant will be formally opened in mid October, and it is hoped that Hugo Chávez, the President of Venezuela, and the local Mayor and Governor will attend.
