GADIR SOLAR, the manufacturer of amorphous silicon thin film solar panels has selected MP’s Construction Department to build its new manufacturing plant to be constructed in the El Trocadero Industrial Estate, located in Puerto Real in Cadiz province.
In this new plant, the firm will produce a type of solar panels using a technology that will be unique in Europe and will bring considerable reductions in the cost of the finished panels.
The construction of this industrial building is part of an action plan to re-industrialise the Cadiz Bay zone. The plant, with a surface area of thirteen thousand square metres, will be used for the manufacture of micro-amorphous silicon thin film solar panels using Oerlikon technology. Future works may include adapting and refurbishing the existing office building and nearby industrial sheds to be used for storage.

The contract awarded is for four and a half million euros. However, this figure only includes the cost of constructing the building. The total amount of the contract is therefore expected to reach seven million euros, once the contract for implementation of the auxiliary installations is also awarded: electrical, mechanical, clean rooms and air conditioning/heating.
Work on this building started in September and is expected to be completed in April, so that the factory can start production at the start of 2010.
Gadir Solar is a very significant reference in the industrial technology sector of renewable energy. The company belongs to the Aurantia group of companies, with more than 25 years’ experience in services, renewable energy and the environment, and in his new plant, the firm will produce a type of solar panels using a technology that will be unique in Europe and will bring considerable reductions in the cost of the finished panels.
