MP will carry out the works for the accelerator Bunker and the remodelling of the Southern Block of the Virgen Macarena University Hospital.
MP’s Construction Department has been awarded the project to construct a bunker to house the future linear accelerator of the Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville. This work, with a total budget of four hundred thousand Euros is being promoted by the Directorate-General of the Andalusia Heath Service, and forms part of the refurbishment being undertaken in the Hospital.

The project consists of making an excavation six metres deep and building a concrete structure using high density barite aggregate which will insulate against the radiations produced by the new radiological equipment. For MP, this construction work will require a special effort in terms of planning and coordination, due to the specific nature of the materials, and the bunker’s location next to the building’s main entrance.
MP ha also won the contract for the other works being carried out in the Hospital: the refurbishment of the first floor of the Southern Block, where the stomatology, pneumology and anaesthetics consultants are located. The contract awarded for this part of the works is for seven hundred and fifty thousand Euros.
The project consists of totally remodelling the whole area. This includes demolishing the existing partition walls and the flooring, which will be replaced by a new marble floor. Stomatology will be extended with three new surgeries. For these, a new framework will be constructed which will cover the flat roof of the southern part of the building and so extend the available area by one hundred square metres. In the other departments, the new partition walls will be constructed, with new carpentry work and improved finishes. Additionally, all the doctors’ surgeries will have electricity, water, medicinal gas, telephone and IT connections, and a new air conditioning system will be installed for the whole area.
