Located next to the Autovía del Mediterráneo, twenty kilometres from Murcia, the CABECICOS BLANCOS, Business Park is in a strategic position, giving fast access to any point in the Murcia region. This business park has therefore become one of the highest quality industrial areas in the region.
This business park has become one of the highest quality industrial areas in the region.
Librilla Town Hall, through its Iniciativas para el Desarrollo de Librilla, S.L municipal company, offers developers and businessmen a significant amount of industrial land – approximately two million square metres: seven hundred and fifty thousand metres in the first phase, and six new action units next to the first phase development. These new units, with a surface area of approximately one million two hundred thousand square metres, have all the infrastructures required for successful development of business activities:
- Road infrastructure with a direct link to the Autovía del Mediterráneo.
- Drinking water infrastructure connected to the MCT network and an additional tank for regulating supply.
- Connection to the above-and-below ground medium and high voltage grids.
- Telephone infrastructure providing very high data transmission capacity.
- Wide avenues and roads.
- Natural gas infrastructure (Cartagena – Murcia Pipeline).
- Optical fibre
- Blocks organised by activity sectors and plots offering magnificent building and town planning conditions: buildable area of 0.96 m2/m2 on the net plot, maximum occupation level of 90% and maximum height level of 10 metres.
- Treatment infrastructure and Treatment Plant installed in the lower part of the park.

The solution chosen for the process is as follows:
1º) WATER TREATMENT SEQUENCE. Pre-treatment, including removal of large particles by an automatic screen and pumping; compact pre-treatment equipment based on a bar screen, transport and sand washing, grease removal by air injection, extraction and pumping to the sludge processing line, and screening out small particles using a rotating filter.
Biological Treatment: Biological reactor with a 3,350 m3 Körting-type aeration system and using clarification by secondary sedimentation in a 14 m diameter tank.
Tertiary treatment based on chemical treatment (pre-oxidation, coagulation y flocculation); lamella settler; flocculation and pumping to filtration; a filtration system using rings to remove solid particles (20 units) and a disinfection system using ultraviolet radiation.
2º) SLUDGE TREATMENT SEQUENCE. Sludge dewatering system through homogenisation and preparation of sludge by dosing with lime and polyelectrolyte and a dewatering system for the sludge produced using centrifugal sedimentation.
3º) ELECTRICAL CONTROL PANEL. Made up of the elements required to control the plant, with a programmable controller.
The key to winning this contract has been the design of the changed proposal, made based on the original design. This business park’s water treatment plant will be serving major transport industry companies such as Scania, as well as Saint Gobain, in the glass sector and companies in the food sector such as Alvalle and Matutano (Tropicana Group). Additionally, this WWTP will serve the nearby Belen Norte, industrial park, developed by PRONAMUR. This plant is also interesting from a technical point of view, as it provides complete water treatment including primary and secondary treatment and systems for water re-use.
