EADS CASA has contracted our IPA service (management of purchasing, warehousing and the supply of auxiliary products). This complements the maintenance service currently provided for the factory in Cadiz by our TECHNICAL SERVICES department.
For several years, EADS CASA has outsourced the maintenance service to MP. The customer, however, has been responsible for supplying the spare parts or materials required for this activity; as a result, since the management of the warehouse and spare parts was not under our control, spares were not available when needed. This either meant that a breakdown could not be repaired quickly or resulted in higher costs.

The service involves one person on-site to manage the warehouse. The scope of the service covers the usual families of products associated with the maintenance of production areas and installations: FLUIDS, WELDING, ADHESIVES, CUTTING TOOLS, HAND-OPERATED TOOLS, CUTTING/ABRASION, MEASURING TOOLS, CABINETS, ELECTRICAL MATERIAL, MECHANICAL MATERIAL, GENERAL IRONMONGERY, PLUMBING GOODS, HYDRAULICS/PNEUMATICS, DIE-CUTTING, SECURITY, PAINTING AND SPECIFIC MACHINE SPARE PARTS.
The agreement was reached in May, and the implementation plan envisages that the complete service will begin in NOVEMBER 2008. However, purchasing and stocking have been under way since August, based on the requirements arising, and their urgency. |

A fundamental aspect of the first phase of the implementation has been the organisation of the warehouse (organising, cleaning, defining storage aisles, reception and dispatch areas, placement, etc.). It was also considered important to unify product families and develop the IPA procedures for the entry and dispatch of materials, as shown in the photographs.
For several years, EADS CASA has outsourced the maintenance service to MP
Min/max stock quantities have been defined for critical materials (type A). For these, MP is responsible for ensuring that there are NO STOCK OUTS. MP also provides fast and efficient management of requirements for materials for which a stock level has not been defined (type B), while controlling stock movements and reporting to the customer on materials dispatch. The information provided, which will be used for assigning costs and analysing usage, includes the following: the article, number of units, price, person requesting, cost centre and breakdown report number (WO).
Once again, IPA, our Complete Industrial Service, provides a solution to a widespread industry need, demonstrating that it is the ideal complement to our INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE product.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the managers of the EADS CASA factory in Cadiz for the confidence they have shown in MP. We expect to achieve the objectives and satisfy the requirements of EADS CASA, and as a result we will reproduce the success of IPA in other factories in Spain.
