On the 25th of September, Andalusia’s Social and Economic Council, together with the Valentín de Madariaga-MP Foundation , organised a lecture on "Reinforcing the Andalusian Business World. Conversations about Business”. It was aimed at young entrepreneurs, university students and people from the worlds of finance, business and labour organisations and those Public Institutions with responsibility for business regulations and promotion of the economy.

The opening address to this first talk was given by Santiago Herrero León, the President of the Confederation of Andalusian Businesses, on the Isla de la Cartuja. This is part of a series of talks which have been organised in order to publicise Andalusia’s lndustrial World. The second talk was given on the 16th of October by José Joly, President of the Grupo Joly

This is a cycle of events reflecting on the circumstances which have led to the creation and growth of Andalusian companies. It may be the start of a deeper and wider study of entrepreneurial behaviour in Andalusia. This should not be just a historical analysis, but also the testimony of entrepreneurs who have created large, permanent companies in the market. Such a study may provide considerable educational content for the younger generations starting their working lives.

The clear evidence of the rise of great businessmen in Andalusia makes it advisable to share experiences and reflections, with the aim of demonstrating the business instincts, methods, options and decision taking that have led some great businessmen to successfully develop their projects.

There are few things as convincing as personal testimony. It is said that picture is worth a thousand words. Well, the living image of entrepreneurial strength, embodied in a businessman’s long experience, is itself more able to animate and energise than a complete encyclopaedia.
