MP has been awarded the contract for the design and supply of 308 units of evacuation equipment for the trains that CAF will produce for METRO DE MADRID.

These units are mechanical devices, hand-operated by a single operator, allowing for the evacuation of passengers from the train to the rail line.
They are used in the case of a breakdown of a train that cannot be towed; the devices allow for a safe and comfortable passengers’ evacuation.

The equipments consist of a plug door located in the side of the train, operated from inside.

A stair made of two flights – one pivoting, through which the other slips down – is hand-operated from the train and consists of 7 steps and a guardrail equipped with battery-operated lightning.

These devices are located into a steel frame, fixed to the train’s structure.

The entirety of this equipment – pane, stair and frame – is assembled on the train in a short time period, a move which is a cost saver for the client.

The design is developed at MP offices, in Cerdanyola del Vallés. Industrialization, manufacturing and assembly of the equipment is carried out in Seville.

From MP installations located in the Calonge industrial estate, an average 20 units will be dispatched per month to CAF installations of Saragossa and Beasain, from October 2009 until March 2011.
